As the end of the school summer holidays approaches, we reflect on what’s been a busy summer of licensed character appearances, mini shows, story-telling sessions, treasure hunts and more!
Superman flying into intu Uxbridge on September 2 marks the final stop-off after a six week ‘Be a Superhero This Summer’ Tour across intu shopping centres, which started on July 23 when Batman descended on intu Bromley. This activity has seen Warner Bros. Justice League properties Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman each visit fourteen intu shopping centre destinations – ranging from intu Lakeside in Essex through to intu Braehead in Glasgow. WBCP and intu worked together to deliver this summer experience for their shoppers, with Rainbow Productions supporting the activity through managing the presence and performance of each superhero across all venues. As well as delivering an interactive mini show at each of the intu shopping centres, young fans were given the opportunity to pose alongside the famous superhero character whilst practicing their very best superhero pose!
As the superheroes character tour comes to an end, another tour starts in September, where Rainbow Productions will be managing the personal appearances of Poppy and Branch from the Trolls on behalf of Twentieth Century Fox. This activity aims to support the upcoming Trolls movie release and starts on September 10 at Hamleys, Trafford Centre. Poppy and Branch will also stop off at venues including Liverpool One, St. Enoch Centre, Meadowhall and Hamleys in St. David’s Centre Cardiff.
Last month also witnessed licensed characters joining the line-up at family festivals, such as the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, The Big Feastival in Oxfordshire and CarFest South in Hampshire. September will also see licensed children’s characters making appearances in front of family audiences at festivals: On Blackheath in London on September 10 and 11 plus On Roundhay in Leeds on September 17.
