2022 was a year of full of sporting success, royal pageantry, and charity fundraising which we’re proud to have been a part of…so here are some of our 2022 highlights!
At the start of 2022, Rainbow’s Managing Director, Simon Foulkes, took part in St Raphael’s Hospice’s ‘I’m a Director, Get Me Out of Here!’ fundraising challenge. Faced with gruelling bushtucker trials, Simon raised £1400 for the charity which supports local families with life-limiting illnesses.
Rainbow Productions were honoured to have been part of our late Queen, Her Majesty Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The pageant welcomed a parade of Britain’s most iconic children’s characters which spanned the Queen’s remarkable 70-year reign, including Peter Rabbit™, Paddington™ and Peppa Pig.
The summer also saw the Lionesses bring football home with their UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 win. Supporting them from the side lines were Women’s Euro mascots Robyn, Ashley, and Kai. Each have their own distinct personality – the captain, Ashley has strength, Kai has intelligence, and Robyn has skill – and aimed to help increase girls’ and women’s participation in football.
Throughout the year, we attended various movie premiers and promotional tours. The Minions donned groovy new outfits ahead of the release of ‘The Rise of Gru’, Sonic could be found speeding into train stations and touring Saudi Arabia to support ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ and Puss in Boots attended premiers at cinemas worldwide to promote the recent release of his second film, ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’.
Come Autumn, Haven launched their redesigned Seaside Squad which Rainbow excitedly brought to life for them. Rory, Jaz, George and Annie are now entertaining holidaymakers at Haven’s 37 holidays parks across the UK.
We were also delighted to be nominated in two categories – Best in the Creative Sector and Best Independent Business – at The Merton Best Business Awards. On the night we were thrilled to not only be declared the winner of both categories, but also to have picked up the prestigious 2022 Merton Best Business Award, which recognised our resilience and innovation throughout the pandemic.
The festive season came into full swing when the Elves Behavin’ Badly once again embarked on their UK tour of shopping centres, treating visitors to lots of mischievous festive fun… Tiny and Small attended the opening of The Clangers themed installation at Lightopia in Crystal Palace Park… and we added The Grinch to our character portfolio… what a way to end the year!
As we enter 2023, celebrations are ramped up to honour accomplishments of our own. This year marks 40 years since Rainbow Productions was established, and we can’t wait to share our celebrations with you all!
