Paddington comes from Peru, where he was raised by his Aunt Lucy. When Aunt Lucy moved to the Home for Retired Bears, she sent Paddington to begin a new life in London. Arriving alone at Paddington Station with a small suitcase, an old red bush hat and a label reading, “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” he was found by the Brown family, who welcomed him into their home at 32 Windsor Gardens.
Paddington is instantly recognisable in his blue duffle coat with wooden toggles, his treasured hat from Uncle Pastuzo and his brown suitcase marked P.B. Famous for his love of marmalade sandwiches, English Breakfast tea and hot cocoa with Mr Gruber for elevenses, Paddington is endlessly kind, polite and thoughtful. He enjoys scrapbooking and writing letters and postcards to Aunt Lucy, and believes good manners and kindness always matter. He is not afraid to give a hard stare when someone forgets their manners.
