MR MEN & LITTLE MISS

Mr. Happy is the happiest person in all the land. He always has a large grin on his face and will try and cheer up anyone who is feeling down - he can even make a worm smile.

Mr. Bump is covered in bandages and he is prone to bumping into things or falling over. However, he never stays down for long and always gets up smiling!

Mr. Strong has superhero-like strength. He has the ability to lift extremely heavy objects. However, he is very modest and is not always aware of his own strength.

Little Miss Sunshine always looks on the bright side of life! No one could be happier than Little Miss Sunshine, the world’s golden girl.  Smiling is her favourite pastime and she is very good friends with Mr. Happy.

Mr. Tickle was the very first character, introduced in the first book in 1971 further to Roger’s son Adam asking his father, “what does a tickle look like?’. He is a mischievous character who can never supress the urge to tickle people, but he is also very kind and is happy to help others.

Little Miss Hug is pink and is a very cuddly and warm character. She is always there to make her friends feel better with a hug.

Little Miss Inventor is intelligent, resourceful and creative – her brain is full of bright ideas which she turns into extraordinary inventions in a shed at the bottom of her garden. She wears pencils and a spanner in her hair, so that she is always ready for her next bright idea.

Little Miss Princess is never rude – good manners are very important to her. Despite having servants to look after her every need, she is by no means spoilt; she knows just how lucky she is and is always trying to share her fortune with others.

• The Mr Men series of books by Roger Hargreaves first started in 1971. The Little Miss titles were first published in 1981. Roger’s son, Adam, continues the popular series of books started by his father.
• Now, with over 50 years of heritage and over 90 characters, one Mr. Men Little Miss book is sold every 2.5 seconds worldwide, and lifetime sales total 200 million books.
• The BBC adapted the books into an animated TV series, which ran from 1974 – 1985 and was narrated by actor Arthur Lowe.
