Once a year, one of the industry’s “red-carpet” events - Brand Licensing Europe’s character parade has returned to ExCeL London again! Over 40 characters from some of the world's biggest brand owners participated in the spectacle this year, including Minions, Paddington™, Superman, Batman, Bluey & Bingo, Hey Duggee, PAW Patrol ‘s Chase & Skye and many more.
In addition to the parade, Clumsy Smurf, Sonic the Hedgedog™ and Teletubbies took part in the BLE fashion catwalk for the first time! Smurf swayed his way through the runway while Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po donned a series of new clothes to match the new collection with GoGuy and Ellesse!
Some of the licensors such as Moonbug and NBCUniversal also created photo corners for the characters to meet and interact with the audiences. We hope all the BLE vistors enjoyed the vibrant energy and cuddles that was brought by the characters to the show floor.
In other good news from BLE 2022, Crispin Lowrey, creator of the brand the Spookysaurus, as well as the Production Manager at Rainbow Productions, won this year’s Kelvyn Gardner License This! Competition, Brand & Design Category. As this year’s winner, Crispin, with his brand the Spookysaurus, is over the moon. The Spookysaurus is a spectral, glittery green being that can shrink to the size of a whisper, travel at the speed of thought and puts the present in omnipresent. Initially drawn to Earth by the delicious smell of fear (its favourite food) from the dinosaurs, it stayed here to protect humans from their fears and all the things that go bump in the night. Going forward, Crispin will continue to create more fascinating stories with Spookysaurus. He is currently working on his first fantasy chapter book “Spookysaurus and the Boy with no Fear!” which will be released soon.
